Congratz to Floyd and Joy

Image
Power of Youth I would like to personally congratulate Paul Floyd Padilla and Joceli Joy Cabides for exchanging their vows today, 31 March 2015.  They are a lovely couple and looks like they have a great future ahead of them!  They are young and vibrant.  They seem to be at their adventurous stages and I hope they get the most out of their travels! But for now, Congratulations to Floyd and Joy.  May you have more adventures to come!

Slidecam 600

Image
Slidecam 600 I had been playing with video for quite sometime now and just recently decided to invest on it.  I mainly do photography, which may help to cover half of the gear needed for a simple cinematic film.  For the other half, I need to buy them.  One of the items I bought was a slider.  Since I’m very short of budget, an inexpensive slider that gets the job done is what I’m after.  My choice of slider is Edelkrone (or the likes).  It gives the camera a lengthy travel plus having a small form factor.  But these sliders are expensive currently for me.  Roller Bearing VS Friction-Based Slider When reading slider reviews and recommendations, the concept of roller bearing slider vs friction-based slider came out.  They are very similar to each other and the only difference is how they ‘groove’ on the rails.  The friction-based slider literally touches the rail.  This means that the mounting plate is in direct contact with the rail...

Joy and Floyd PreNup

Joy and Floyd at the Bench Last Saturday, 21 March 2015, I did a video shoot and a short photo shoot for a couple.  Joy Cabides and Paul Floyd Padilla will have their wedding this 31 March, 2015.  It’s going to be held at The Grounds, Alexandria.  I haven’t shoot any event in this location so it’s kinda exciting.  I’ve look at photos via Google Images and it seems to be a busy place.  There are so many quirky things that you can shoot!  Our initial location was Turimetta Beach at the borders or Narrabeen and Warriewood.  But since the weather is not cooperating that day, we were forced to go to a secluded area.  I’m particular with the wind.  The wind velocity that day as about 30-35kph.  These are strong winds that could mess your hair and clothing.  Since I’m going to shoot video, I don’t want them to be arranging their hair/clothing often.  So at the same day, I decided for an alternative location.  The Look Davidson Pa...

Witstro HSS for Nikon

Image
Godox Witstro, FT-16, YN-622N-TX, YN-622N Witstro AD360 (also known as Cheetah CL-360) is a powerful ‘flash’ from Godox.  It belongs to the family of ‘barebulb’ flashes where the bulb is exposed.  There are a couple of reviews, tests and first impressions over the internet and most are positive.  I sold my Elinchrom BR Xi 500/500 for this as I do more on location shooting.  I haven’t done a review on this item but my conclusion is very positive and highly recommended. Why I Use High Speed Sync (HSS) A camera's sync speed is usually at the 1/200 or 1/250 of a second.  It's the fastest shutter speed you can set your camera to sync with your flash.  If you set it higher, you'll see your shutter curtain cutting your image. You need High Speed Sync / HSS (Canon) or Auto FP (Nikon) to break this limitation.  Without the limitation of shutter speed, you can achieve the following: Achieve buttery bokeh by maintaining F/4, F/2.8 or even F/1.2 during daytime Kil...
