Haruru Falls NZ
Haruru Waterfalls NZ |
One of the easiest waterfalls to get to at North Island New Zealand is Haruru Waterfalls. It's just 5-10 minutes away from the parking. Actually, we're just driving on this road when we saw a signage going to Haruru Waterfalls. We followed it. Since we already hear the loud gushing of waters, we decided to stopover and continue towards the falls.
Preparation
Since the waterfall and the parking are very close, you can bring whatever you need. It's an easy walk without too many upstream. Since we went there during a drizzle, the perimeter of the waterfalls (made of rocks) is slippery.

Haruru Waterfalls parking is just off the road of Haruru Falls Road. The parking is wide so even if you're in a convoy, there's no issue of parking space. We went there via Jucy Campervan and we're the only one there.

From the parking, it only takes about 5 - 10 minutes of walking. This is a very short and worthwhile stopover. The walk is straightforward as well without any forks. There are no steep upstream or mountain climbing. It's almost a flat path towards the waterfalls.

Benches for Relaxation at Haruru Waterfalls |
Walking towards the waterfalls, the waters becomes more noisy. There are massive amounts of water falling, especially during rainy season. The path itself is constructed for a safe passage.

Once you arrive at the waterfalls, you'll notice that the fall is not that high. But it's wide, rushing and it's noisy. I don't think I would be able to walk towards the other end. It was drizzling back then. So there is a water spray floating upwards from the base of the waterfalls. It looks like hot water:

Final Thoughts
Haruru waterfalls is accessible, easy to walk into and only takes a fraction of your time. If you're driving by, I recommend you stop over and visit this place. I bet it will only take you about 30 minutes for the visit.
I may have seen more magnificent waterfalls at the North Island. But since this is a very accessible waterfall, it's one of those areas you can 'just drop by quickly'.
